If this is happening right now

In a medical emergency, don't wait for a reply.

Call 108, or go straight to the nearest hospital or nursing home. This applies to collapse, chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe breathing difficulty, a serious fall, or anything you believe cannot wait. Please don't message us first and wait to hear back — get to emergency care, then let us know once your parent is safe.

GeraVita does not provide emergency medical care or ambulance services — at home, at any time of day, on any plan. This is the same for every family we work with, without exception.

Why we draw this line

A genuine medical emergency needs an equipped medical institution — oxygen, resuscitation equipment, an ICU, a team that can act within minutes. A home visit, however skilled the doctor, cannot replicate that. Suggesting otherwise wouldn't make your parent safer; it would risk delaying the one thing that actually helps in those first critical minutes.

So we've chosen to be plain about it, rather than let a WhatsApp message or a phone call become the thing standing between your parent and a hospital.

What GeraVita does provide

GeraVita is a Comprehensive and Continuous Geriatric Care service. That means:

  • Scheduled home visits by a specialist geriatrician — not a paramedic, not a general physician, not a coordinator
  • Ongoing clinical oversight between visits — medication review, coordination with your parent's other specialists, and a written record after every visit
  • WhatsApp access for questions, concerns, and non-emergency medical guidance, with response times that vary by plan (see your plan's details on the Care Plans page)
  • For families managing care from a distance, GeraVita Connect adds a monthly doctor call, a named care manager, and a yearly wellness report

How WhatsApp monitoring actually works

Messages are monitored outside standard office hours. If a message describes or suggests a medical emergency, you'll receive the same direction shown at the top of this page — call 108 or go to the nearest hospital — regardless of what time it is or which plan you're on. This isn't a slower version of emergency care; it's a redirect to the right kind of care, as quickly as we can send it.

For everything that isn't an emergency — a question, a concern, a symptom you're unsure about — our usual response times apply, and a doctor responds directly, not a call centre.
